Berkley Clayton Peterson

September 5, 1937 ~ December 9, 2017 (age 80)

Berkley Clayton Peterson, age 80, passed away on Saturday, December 9th, 2017, due to natural causes. He is survived by his spouse, Elizabeth Margarita Peterson, his son, Erich Peterson (spouse, Molly Peterson), his three grandchildren, Noel O’Neal, Hyrum Peterson, and Christian Peterson, and his great grandson, Paul O’Neal.

He was born on September 5, 1937, in Los Angeles, California.  As the son of Alton H. Peterson and Myrtle Eliza Dudley, he grew up in Boulder City and then Henderson, Nevada, along with his surviving siblings; his sister, Annette Grant, his brothers Ray Peterson, and Ferrell Peterson. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Texas, San Antonio Mission.  He received his undergraduate degree in Business Management from Brigham Young University and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.

Although a current resident of Cedar City and member of the Heritage Park Ward in the Enoch West Stake, he spent most of his adult life serving in the church in Southern California as a Regional Representative in the Single Adult program and as an ordinance worker in the Los Angeles temple.  He had a great love for teaching the gospel, and working in the community as a professional teacher.  Many young people within and outside the church were impacted in a positive way as a result of his teaching and mentorship.  He was known for his love of gospel scholarship and for being serious about what he did, while not taking himself too seriously.  He had a great sense of humor and was a devoted husband and father.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017 at the Heritage Park Building, 290 West 1045 North, Cedar City, UT 84721 at 4pm.
