Afton Olsen

Afton D. Olsen 4/18/1934 - 12/24/2022 St George, UT: Our dear husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather passed away on Dec 24, 2022 surrounded by family at 88 years old.

He was born on April 18, 1934 in Emery, UT to Lamar and Lareda Olsen. He married Ramona Peterson (deceased) in 1956 and they raised 10 children together. Trina (Ross) Atwood, Abby (Kevin, deceased) Atwood, Tyke (Elvia) Olsen, Ryke (Sherry) Olsen, David Olsen, Adam (Shelly) Olsen, Ruel (Leslye) Olsen, Afton (Marilyn) Olsen, Mona (Scott) Sanders, and Meggin (Elliot) Lamb.

Afton and Ramona later divorced and he married Joanne White in 1996. They raised 6 children together. Marlene (Levi) Mussehl, Reda (Rich) Capasso, Lamar (Jenn) Olsen, Joanna (LJ) Aldred, Katie (James) Burrows and Kendall (Pricilla) Olsen. He was a master welder and fabricator all his life. He was known by quite a few nicknames. Among them: Calhoun, PropMan, Pops and Papou.

In 2009, he dedicated his life and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and remained faithful to those beliefs right up to his death. He was loved by all who knew him. He loved his family with everything he had and whoever was with him knew they were his favorite...and they were. While he peacefully sleeps, his wife, all 16 of his children, 49 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and 2 beautiful little sisters will miss him. We will miss his larger than life, sandpaper hands and the comfort they brought to each one of us. We will miss his hilarious stories and his booming voice. We will miss the animation and the sparkle in his beautiful eyes. But for a short time. We draw comfort from knowing that we will see him again in a grand reunion when he is resurrected here on earth in the very near future. (John 5:28, 29; Psalms 37:11, 29)
