In Loving Memory of Allen Gerald Porterfield Sr.

Allen Gerald Porterfield Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, pastor, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 26th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and a life devoted to the people he cherished.

He was a man who loved deeply and gave generously of himself. His greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his two sons Allen Porterfield Jr. and his wife Terilyn Porterfield, John Porterfield and his wife Denise Porterfield. He was a proud grandfather to his four grandsons Issac Porterfield, Benjamin Porterfield, Zachary Porterfield and his wife Maddison Porterfield, Spencer Porterfield and his wife Amber Porterfield. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn Boatman and her husband Del Boatman, and his two brothers, Darrell Porterfield and his wife Kathy Porterfield, and Bob Porterfield He is also survived by extended family and many dear friends whose lives he touched throughout the years.

His faith was an important part of who he was. As a pastor, he had a heart for people to share the good news and a desire to serve God and others. He shared his faith not only through his ministry, but through the way he lived his life. His wisdom, compassion, humor, and willingness to help others, and will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara-Anne Porterfield, who passed away June 15th, 2025. Their life together was a beautiful and important part of his story. While her passing left an emptiness in his life and in the hearts of those who loved her, we find comfort knowing that they are together again.

His earthly time has now come to an end. We grieve because we love him, but we also rejoice knowing that he is welcomed into the presence of Jesus and reunited with the woman he loved, and enjoying his homecoming.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7

And now we hold onto this promise:

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”— Isaiah 40:31

Though he will be deeply missed, his faith, his love, his influence, and the memories he leaves behind will live on in the hearts of his family and all those who knew him.

His fight is finished. His race is complete. He kept faith and now is home.
