Ann “Shari” Garay
August 28, 1938 to August 21, 2024
Ann “Shari” Garay passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024 in her home in Hurricane, Utah. She was born in Nebraska. She lived in California for most of her life, also including the states of Arizona and Utah, always being near family and friends. She was the eldest of 5 children. She was married to her surviving husband, Richard Garay, for 64 years and had one child named Michelle, who was named after the Beatles song.
She attended Cal State Long Beach becoming an active sister in her Sigma Kappa Sorority. She earned her English B.A., which led to her becoming a business owner of her in-home typing service. She helped out college students and business owners alike as her daughter would sit with her after school to watch her mom’s flying fingers race across the keyboard. She became an administrative secretary for a few companies before retiring. Her favorite hobbies included sewing matching mother and daughter dresses for each holiday, her talented watercolor painting, gourmet cooking, taking walks in the park and hiking in the local hills with family and friends. Christmas was always her favorite holiday, which included entertaining family and friends with her elaborate parties. Shari was a dedicated wife and mother, supporting her daughter during her soccer games. She was always active with her church using her artistic creative skills to make backdrops for fundraisers and fairs. She was a dedicated Catholic attending church every Sunday for most of her lifetime.
She is survived by her supportive, wonderful, family members.
