Anthony Wayne Brady

July 26, 1952 — May 20, 2025

St. George, UT

After a courageous fight with brain cancer, Anthony "Tony" Wayne Brady, age 72, entered the loving embrace of his mother, father, and Heavenly Father on May 20, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and rugged cowboy spirit.

Tony was born July 26, 1952, in Alamosa, CO to parents Reese and Hannah Brady. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man, he served a German-speaking mission in Switzerland, an experience that left a lasting impact. He continued to speak German throughout his life, using it both professionally and at home, often sharing the language with his children and grandchildren. He attended Brigham Young University, where he played soccer and became a lifelong, unwavering fan of BYU sports. In his younger years, Tony competed in bareback and bull riding rodeo events, embracing the cowboy spirit that stayed with him throughout his life. Tony’s work provided him the opportunity to travel throughout Europe and Australia, as well as residing in England for two years.

Tony adored his wife, Karla, to whom he was married for 36 years, and up until his final days, he loved to joke that she was the one who proposed to him. He cared deeply for his children and treasured Christmas, when the whole family would gather under one roof, and every year, all he wanted for Christmas was, “Peace on Earth.” He truly cared—many winter mornings, he’d rise far before sun-up to plow their steep driveway switchbacks so Karla could get to work, then continue on to clear all of the neighbors’ driveways as well.

He was a man who could fix anything. Tony spent countless hours perfecting the log home that he and Karla built. He was also a true outdoorsman and cowboy at heart. He found peace in the outdoors—whether casting a line, being the first to spot an animal on the mountain, or lassoing his kids on the front lawn.

Tony took great pride in his roots and always looked forward to the annual family road trip to Manassa, Colorado for the Pioneer Days parade and rodeo. He was often met there by his cousins, uncles and aunts, siblings and joined by his wife and children, making it a cherished tradition. An unforgettable part of the journey, especially for the kids, was his habit of driving just a little too close to the cliff edge on the steep winding mountain roads.

Tony’s quick wit and endless supply of dad jokes were legendary; he found plenty of amusement in the eye rolls he earned from his wife and children. He was known to tickle until you couldn’t breathe, a tradition he happily revived when the grandchildren came along.

The memory of his father, Reese, and mother, Hannah, remained a guiding light in Tony’s life. He often shared stories of them with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karla Brady; his children, Chrissy “Sissy” Scavezze (Doug), Anthony "T" Brady (Monica), Michael “Miker Man” Brady (Megan Chadwick), Nicholas “Nicker Bocker” Brady (Erin); his six beloved grandchildren; and his siblings, Judy Hammond, Ella Westley, Nancy Curtis, Robert (Brenda) Brady, and Daniel (Debbie) Brady. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reese and Hannah Brady, and his sister, Sharon Smith.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Sun River Chapel, 1483 Angel Arch Dr, St. George, Utah. Friends may call one hour before the service at the chapel. Interment will take place in the Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 S Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Glioblastoma Foundation at glioblastomafoundation.org. We invite you all to honor his memory by baiting a hook, chatting around a campfire with loved ones, or helping a neighbor in need.

“It will all work out.”
