Barbara J Pick

Barbara J. Pick, 92, of University Place, Washington, passed away on February 2, 2024, fortunate and blessed to have her 3 children with her during her final days.

Barbara was born September 25, 1931, to Arthur and Florence (Morrow) Jonson in Plainview, Nebraska.

In August 1952, she married Donald W. Pick and together had 3 children, Donald, Ann, and Carol.

Barbara was a long-time resident of University Place, WA.  She loved her work in the community, serving on many committees and boards. She was a proud, long-time member of the Friends of the Library, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Memory singers, Newcomers club, and the Mt. Cross Lutheran Church. She loved going to the Tacoma Musical Playhouse and playing bridge with anyone, but especially the Crazy 8 Bridge club.

Through these organizations, she made many long-time, loving friendships that were so important to her.   

Barbara lived and traveled all over the world with her husband Don and loved to entertain. She had a classy and often sassy personality!

She loved books, maps, music (particularly Jazz), musicals, plays, singing, bridge, her Seahawks, chardonnay and later in life her western tv shows.

Barbara is survived by her son, Donald Pick (Patti), her daughters, Ann Widness (Bob) and Carol Hanigan (Pete), Her grandchildren, Justin Pick, Jessica Powers, Haley Widness, Treva Widness and Ian Hanigan, her brother Kent Jonson (Janet), her sister-in-law Pat Jonson, many nieces, nephews, wonderful friends and her long-time, loving caretaker and friend, Linda Wing.

She is preceded in death by her husband Donald W. Pick (1968), her mother and father, Florence (Morrow) and Arthur Jonson, her brother Daryl Jonson, and her longtime life partner Richard Evans.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Mount Cross Lutheran Church at 8902 40th St. W., University Place, WA. @ 2:00 p.m.
