Beatrice Mary Lowney

Beatrice Mary Lowney, age 93, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025. She was born on July 1, 1931 in Boston, MA to Patrick and Margaret Deveney. She married the late John Joseph Lowney on June 4, 1955 in Roxbury, MA. 

Bea lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to family, professional achievement, and an enduring sense of style and adventure. After raising her family, Bea pursued a second career, beginning as a bank teller at First Nationwide Bank in San Mateo, California. Through hard work and determination, she rose to become a branch manager, overseeing multiple locations with grace and professionalism.

In retirement, Bea and John settled in St. George, Utah, where they embraced the joys of golf, Sunday brunches with friends, bridge games, and traveling. Bea lived her later years with the same enthusiasm and grace that defined her entire life. 

Bea had a keen eye for fashion. She was a proud and active member of the Red Hat Society, where she hosted lively fashion shows and brought joy to many with her sense of style and humor. She was also a devoted bargain hunter, never one to pass up a good yard or garage sale.

She is survived by daughter Carol Mary Cogan (Paul) of Rocklin, CA; son John Patrick Lowney (Constance) of West Chester, PA; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Bea is preceded in death by daughter Dr. Beatrice Ann Kunka (Scott); grandson Peter Joseph Lowney; sisters Ann Deveney; Margaret Hurley (John); brothers James Deveney (Gladys); Patrick Deveney (Joan); John Deveney (Shirley); brother-in-law William Lowney (Claire); sisters-in-law Mary Frances Wilcox (William); Ann Nestor (James); and Patricia Miceli (Leonard).

A viewing will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Hughes Mortuary at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Tonaquint Cemetery.
