Betty Louise Kerr was born to William Howard Van Brundt and Wennogene Alta Matlock on February 25, 1948 in San Francisco, CA and passed on April 22, 2026 in Washington, UT after a 15-year battle with cancer. She was the third of six children. Betty was preceded in death by all of her siblings.
In 1968, she married Donald Alexius and together raised four children; Eric, Mathew, Shannon, and Lenore (passed in 2024) in Northern California, with a short break in Louisiana. They divorced in 1990. In 2000, she met William (Bill) Kerr and they married in 2003.
Betty attended school in Richmond, CA and was involved in many school activities at Richmond Union High School establishing friendships that lasted until her passing. She planned many of the Richmond High reunions that were held every five to ten years and loved seeing many of her classmates again. After high school she attended Healds Business College earning an Associates Degree that led to secretarial positions with several construction companies. Finishing her career, she retired from East Bay Municipal Utility District in Oakland, CA.
She was, as she put it, "high on life" and very much followed the teachings of Christ. In her early years, she attended a Baptist church in Richmond, CA and loved being in the church choir, which recorded an album of church songs. When she and Bill moved to Washington, UT she found Calvary Chapel and became very involved in the church activities and going to the bible study classes they held. The annual lady's tea gathering was always a highlighted time for her. As her cancer progressed and she couldn't attend church, she would watch the service on YouTube on the TV with her bible in front of her and daily she would do her bible study online.
Holidays were always a special time for her to get out all the decorations for display in her home, whether it be for Christmas, Easter, the 4th of July, Halloween, it didn't matter the house was decorated.
She loved animals and cherished her pets having cats and dogs, at the same time under one roof and teaching them to coexist. After retireing she loved to travel. She really loved RVing in the motor home and made numerous trips crossing the states from one ocean to the other and all the stops in between. She and Bill went on many cruises including Alaska, Mexico, the Panama Canal and the Caribbean.
She is survived by her husband William, her three surviving children and her grandson Owen Schuck and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
