Listen to Obituary

Bruce Knauf, 58, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 21, 2026. He was born March 7, 1967, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Robert and Sonja (Boose) Knauf. He married Meg (Beardsley) on October 25, 1991, in Oxford, Michigan.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Meg, of Washington, Utah; his sons Josef (Nina) of West Bloomfield, Michigan; Samuel (Alex) of Oxford, Michigan; and Thomas, currently stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas; his mother Sonja, Oxford, MI; his brother Lee (Pam) of Oxford, Michigan; along with his nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Knauf.

Bruce loved his family, his church, his country, and most importantly, his God. His faith shaped how he lived and how he led. He was passionate about discipling men to live as the husbands and fathers God designed them to be.

Bruce spent nearly his entire life in Oxford, Michigan, apart from his college years. For seven years, he and Meg dreamed of beginning a new chapter in Washington, Utah. In late 2025, that long-awaited move became reality. They settled into the beauty and quiet of the red rock landscape, unpacking the final boxes just weeks before his passing.

He loved the outdoors — hunting, shooting, camping, learning to fly fish, and walking quietly among the hills. It was during one of those walks, in the place he had hoped to call home, that God called him home.

A licensed master plumber, business owner, and NRA instructor, Bruce possessed a wide range of skills and a deep respect for hard work. He took pride in craftsmanship and intentionally passed his knowledge and experience on to his sons. He enjoyed mentoring others and sharing what he had learned over a lifetime.

  • Bruce closed his written communications with this encouragement:

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.” I Corinthians 16:13–14

A memorial service will be held this spring in Oxford, Michigan. Details will be shared at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughes Mortuary, 1037 East 700 South, St. George, Utah, (435) 674-5000.

  • In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the EOD Warrior Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting active duty EOD technicians, EOD veterans, their families, and the families of the fallen through financial assistance, peer support, educational programs, and continued care of the EOD Memorial Wall.
