Charlotte Anne Dietrick Gailey, known as Anne, passed away on October 21, 2026 in Caldwell, Idaho. Anne was born in Longview, Washington on September 9, 1936 to Robert and Helen Lewis Dietrick.
In her youth Anne lived in Jennings Lodge, Ontario, & Rickreall, Oregon, Hawaii & Redlands, California. She was introduced to the LDS missionaries while living in Hawaii at young age of 10. She joined the LDS Church w/her heart at that time. She was supported by her parents and allowed to be baptized when she was 15 in California. Anne later attended Brigham Young University. She married Richard W. Gailey (deceased 2019) on August 10, 1956 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. They had six children, Chari (Larry) Garrett (deceased 2023), Middleton, Idaho; Richard R. (Darlene) Gailey, Calgary, Alberta; Robert Gailey, Daytona Beach, Florida; Michael (Christine) Gailey, Piney Creek, NC; Janelle Gailey, St. George, Utah and Christine Baresco (deceased 2016). The family lived in Provo, Utah for 11 years and in 1967 moved to Calgary, Alberta where they lived for 23 years. Anne has numerous beloved grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren!
While in Alberta the family learned to cross-country ski and hike and camp in those beautiful Canadian Rockies! Anne & Dick both were active in the LDS Church scouting movements and explored the out of doors often w/the boys & their own family members. Anne served in Primary, Sunday School, Young Women’s and Relief Society and Family History and indeed considered each “calling” a blessing in her life.
After retiring, Dick & Anne lived in Creston, B.C.; Provo, Utah; Quartzsite, Arizona and St. George, Utah. Dick & Anne traveled throughout 49 of the States and 5 of the Canadian Provinces. In 1996/97 Anne & Dick served a mission in Nauvoo, Illinois where they served as hosts in the wonderful historical sites and later they served two missions in the southern states for the LDS Church. While in the south they used Dick’s skills for microfilming historical records and Anne’s skills of organizing and indexing the records in the various counties. Family history and research was always a large focus of their retirement years.
Anne loved her family, The Gospel of Jesus Christ, the out of doors, family history, and quilting for humanitarian needs. Her smile and love for others will be missed, but she would say “see you later” and she does plan to see us “later”!
Surviving are 4 of their 6 children; their many beloved grandchildren, their 12 great-grandchildren and her two sisters-in-law, Judith (Mel) McCoy, St George, Utan and Kathleen Ransom, Smithfield Utah and her special niece, Jennifer Stephens, Woods Cross, Utah.
Anne is predeceased by her parents, her brother John Lewis Dietrick, her daughters Christine and Chari, and her husband, Dick.
