Daniel Paul Deschamps

Daniel Paul Deschamps passed away on August 31, 2026 due to an unexpected medical event. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth Deschamps, his children Sarah (Shawn) Kemple, Nicholas (Ela) Deschamps, Cassandra Deschamps, Andrew (Lindsey) Deschamps, Christopher (Emily) Deschamps, Kimberlee (Rashid) Deschamps, and Marissa Deschamps. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Brayden, Isabella, Bryson, Jack, Claire, Logan, Benson, Kareem and Theo Daniel, his sister, Nancy (Marlin) Weston, and brother Steve Deschamps.

Dan was born June 29, 1954 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to George and Dorothy Deschamps. He was driven by a love for academics and his time on the high school debate team made a lasting impression. After graduating from Idaho Falls High School in 1972 he continued his education at the University of Utah, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1976. He went on to graduate with a Juris Doctor law degree at the Brigham Young University (BYU) School of Law in 1979. Later on, he specialized and earned a Master of Laws at the University of San Diego School of Law in 1987. While in San Diego, he met his wife, Elizabeth, at a New Year’s Eve Dance. They were married on June 24, 1988 in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Dan was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He converted to the church while attending BYU. His faith and convictions led him, after graduating from BYU Law School, to serve a two-year mission for the Church in Jakarta, Indonesia. Dan showed his love and faith through years of service in the Church. He willingly served in many callings throughout his life, he shared his time, talents, devotion, and love of Jesus Christ with those around him.

Dan had a great enthusiasm for cars. Any time he spoke about them, his face would light up. He spent many hours customizing his dream car, a Subaru WRX, and loved it so much that he would jokingly tell his family, “I want to be buried in this thing.” His children fondly recall his continual pursuit in getting better gas mileage in any vehicle he would drive. Dan was known for his quirky sense of humor and was the king of dad jokes. For the last 16 years of his life, he worked as a manager at Walgreens. He greatly enjoyed interacting with customers and getting to know them personally.

A memorial service celebrating Dan's life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026. A viewing will be held that morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. and the memorial service will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the LDS Central Ward Chapel at 850 E Center St, Central, UT 84722. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Veyo Cemetery at 334 E Chad Ranch Rd, Veyo, UT 84782. We invite all who knew and loved Dan to join us in honoring his memory.
