Dennis Lee Mease

Dennis Lee Mease was born on September 22, 1948, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Victor Paul Mease and Maxine Alvina Stahlheber Mease. He passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jerry Paul Mease; and his infant daughter, Laina Mease.

Dennis grew up in Santa Ynez, California, where he graduated from Santa Ynez High School in 1965. In 1970, he became a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a decision that would profoundly influence the course of his life. He faithfully served a full-time mission in the Pacific Northwest, sharing the gospel and developing a love for teaching and serving others that remained with him throughout his life.

In June 1973, Dennis married Linda Sumner, and together they became the parents of seven children: Brian Mease, Jared Mease, David Mease, Leah Mease, Christa Mease Harbach, Laina Mease, who passed away as an infant, and Gabriel Mease.

In 1977, Dennis graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in Family Relations and Child Development. Shortly thereafter, he obtained his real estate license and went on to become a real estate broker.

Dennis also spent many meaningful years teaching seminary to high school students, sharing with them the gospel of Jesus Christ that he loved so dearly. Teaching young people gave him the opportunity to combine his faith with his natural ability to quietly influence the lives of others. His testimony of the Savior and his love of the gospel were not simply things he spoke about - they were an important part of who he was and how he lived his life.

On May 28, 2005, Dennis married his beloved wife, Arlene Temple. Together, Dennis and Arlene shared more than 21 years of companionship, love, and cherished memories. He had a particularly tender heart for Arlene and for the animals they lovingly cared for together.

Dennis had a lifelong love for music, especially playing the guitar. Music was one of the ways he expressed himself, connected with others, and brought family and friends together. Over the years, his guitar and the songs he played became part of countless memories that those closest to him will continue to treasure.

Dennis had a quiet and unassuming nature and a gentle way about him that made people feel comfortable and loved. He did not seek recognition or attention. Instead, his influence was often found in the quieter moments - in a song played on his guitar, a gospel lesson shared with a student, time spent with family, a conversation with a friend, or a simple act of kindness.

Dennis leaves behind his beloved wife, Arlene; his children, Brian, Jared, David, Leah, Christa, and Gabriel; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, along with extended family, friends, former students, and many others whose lives were touched by him.

His legacy will live on through the family he loved, the gospel he taught, the music he shared, and the countless memories created over a lifetime. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will carry forward pieces of the man he was and the love he gave them.

Dennis will be deeply missed, but his gentle spirit, his faith, his music, and his love for family will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.

A private Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 124 N. Valley View Drive, St. George, Utah 84770.

The family looks forward to gathering together to celebrate Dennis's life, share cherished memories, and honor the love, faith, music, and legacy he leaves behind.
