Diane Neilsen Anderson

December 28, 1944 — March 22, 2023

Hurricane

Diane Neilsen Anderson, 78, of Hurricane, Utah passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.  Her family is grateful she is finally free from a diseased mind and body of many years, but will miss her one-in-a-million laugh and her love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marlow and Joan Neilsen and her sister Marlene Wollaston.  She is survived by LaVon Anderson, her husband of 56 years, and their children:  Marty (Janet) Anderson of Tremonton, Utah; Kelli Endter of Hurricane, Utah; Karie (Richard) Olson of Juneau, Alaska; Klixi (Nate) Cannon of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Katie (Jake) Bastian of Hyrum, Utah.  She showed her love for her 22 grandkids and 6 great-grandkids by having cute, personal treats and games for each of them, and spending her time doing what they enjoyed.

Diane was born December 28, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Marlow Sheldon Neilsen and Joan Marie Jacobsen where she lived all of her childhood.  She was surrounded by her best-friend, cousins and enjoyed frequent get-togethers with close and extended family.

She graduated from Olympus High School in 1963 and attended Utah State University obtaining her bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1967.  She married LaVon Keller Anderson in the SLC, Utah Temple on March 17, 1967.  She was a gifted secretary and enjoyed positions at the VA Hospital, US Forest Service and other businesses throughout her career.  She was a revered office administrator and was always personally invested in her co-workers as well as the job.

Diane was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and brought organization, love and laughter into many callings in the Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society.  Fond memories of her service include her leadership in the Pennies by the Inch campaigns for Primary Children’s Hospital, crocheting roses for each Relief Society sister in her ward, and doing a homemade cookie flavor of the month delivered to each member of Relief Society on their birth month.

They moved to Nibley, Utah in 1974 (where LaVon grew up) and raised their 5 children.  Many friends, neighbors and family members surrounded their table each month for weekend visits, games, snowmobiling, and so so so much food.  She made sure there was something for everyone regardless of picky eaters being present.  Her compassion and love were sometimes shown by making several different types of Oatmeal cookies in one batch – whether you liked raisins, or no raisins, nuts or no nuts, chocolate chips or no, coconut or no… you’d have a cookie you’d like if mom was baking.

Her adventures and talents included Bear Lake trips, cruises and road trips w/ friends and family, sewing, crafts, cooking, sharing jokes, building people up and sharing her testimony.

They moved to Hurricane in 2015 where she lived her last 8 years and passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her beloved family.

In lieu of flowers, Diane and the family suggest a memorial donation in her honor to Hurricane Senior Center Meals on Wheels Program (mail to 95 N 300 W, Hurricane, UT  84737) Or to Primary Children’s Hospital Pennies by the Inch Campaign (https://give.primarychildrenshospital.org)

A viewing will be held at 9:30 am with a funeral following at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the LDS Chapel located at 452 N 2600 W, Hurricane, UT.  Burial will be in the Hurricane City cemetery.
