Edda Jo Hinton, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
Edda was born August 1, 1960 in Provo, UT to Jean Louise Watts and Edward Lloyd Paxton. She was the youngest of 5 siblings.
In August 1987, Edda married Robert Hinton in UT. They welcomed their first daughter Heather Hinton on January 29, 1988 then welcomed their second and last daughter Kelli Hinton on October 2, 1991.
Later in life, after her divorce Edda reconnected with a sweetheart from her younger youth. Their time together brought her comfort, laughter and joy right up until her passing.
At home, Edda was rarely without a word search in hand and a cold Pepsi close by to satisfy her sweet tooth. If she wasn't puzzling, she was cheering on the Utah Jazz or losing herself in a soap opera or Lifetime movie. She loved to bake and cook, decorated for every holiday, enjoyed camping, and had a soft spot for monkeys that her family knew well. And she never passed up a game of Yahtzee — her Yahtzee yell will live on in family memory.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Their photos and artwork filled her home and her wallet, and anyone who spent time with her heard all about them.
Her daughters were, in her own words, her greatest accomplishment — and watching them build families of their own gave her tremendous joy.
Edda was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a sincere dedication to our lord. She is proceeded in death by her mother, father brother, Reese Griffith and her sister, Lonnie Zimmerman.
She is survived by her children Heather Tanner (Joey Tanner), Kelli Grajeda (Oscar Grajeda), her 5 grandchildren, Elaina, Thalia, Adela Jade, James and Jazmine Rose. Along with her brother, Danny Griffiths and Mike Johnson.
