Eddie Loya Torres was born on February 24th, 1943, in Soledad, California, to Consuelo and Maximiliano Peña. Eddie passed away in his home in St. George on September 7th, 2024, at the age of 81, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease surrounded by his family. At age 3, Eddie moved with his mother and Stepfather, Miguel Torres, to New Castle, Utah. Eddie spent most of his young life in Enterprise, Utah, and attended Enterprise High School, where he played baseball and basketball and was the senior class president. He moved his senior year to Cedar City, Utah, where he met his lovely bride, Sandra Gale.
Sandra and Eddie were married on June 29th, 1963, and spent most of their married life between St. George, Utah, and Las Vegas, Nevada. They had five wonderful children and were sealed in the St. George temple on January 31st, 1987. Eddie worked for 33 years for Las Vegas Paving with his sons and made many great friends. Eddie enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt, snowmobile, metal detect, listen to Alan Jackson, and watch Westerns. He was a member of the St. George Lion’s Club, where he was involved in the Dixie Round-up. He enjoyed sports and spent time volunteering for the Little League. You could always catch him watching a Dodgers game. Eddie was happiest while surrounded by his family in Pine Valley, Utah, on the weekends. He served as a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved to attend the Pine Valley Branch for 20 years.
Eddie was preceded in death by his Mother Consuelo Torres, Father Maximiliano Peña, Stepfather Miguel Torres, Brother Maximiliano Torres, Brother Rudy Torres, Brother Max Peña Junior and Sister Carmen Gale. Eddie is survived by his wife Sandra and daughter Tammy (Jeff) Hughes, son Greg Torres, son Jason (Alex) Torres, son Ryan (Alyssa) Torres, and son Trever (Danielle) Torres.
