Listen to Obituary

Gail Peggy Newby, age 67, passed away at her home, surrounded by love, on May 7, 2026. Born on February 9, 1959, and adopted as an infant in Ogden, Utah, Gail lived a life that was unmistakably her own. She was bold, happy, and unforgettable.

Gail grew up on her family farm in Monroe, Utah with her siblings. It was here that she learned the patience and resilience that carried her through life. Her life was not easy, but she made it her own without apology.

Gail’s passions were as colorful as her bright green hair. She crocheted and knitted blankets for the Senior Living Center in Sunriver; she loved to swim, bake and sell cookies, and make those around her smile. Gail was a lover of all types of food, the more variety the better. She was always up for a road trip, as long as it was filled with food, fun, and a lot of rap music! She especially loved trips to Las Vegas.

Gail moved to St. George in 2018 from Utah County for a fresh start. It was here that she became engaged to the love of her life. You would find Gail at every demolition derby and rodeo she could get to; she loved the noise, the atmosphere, and the men! Everyone that knew Gail, knew a person that lived life on her own terms, she was always authentically herself.

Gail will be remembered as a force of nature; a genuine person that left a mark on everyone she met. She leaves behind a community of people whose lives were better for knowing her; people who will remember the bright green hair, the cookies, the blankets made with love, the big personality, and the unmistakable way she had of making sure no one would ever forget her.
