Glen Leroy Ericson Jr., 79, passed away peacefully at his home in St. George, Utah, on August 16, 2026.
Glen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served a mission to the Northern Indian Mission, where he spread the gospel message to the Native American people. He had the opportunity to serve as a Sunday school teacher, bishopric member, elders quorum president, High Priest group leader and in other various callings throughout his life.
Glen was sealed to the love of his life, Debra Carruth, on December 29, 1971 in the Manti Utah Temple. Together, they shared more than 54 years of marriage, building a life filled with family, adventure, laughter, and countless memories.
Glen proudly served his country as a Military Policeman in the United States Army. During his military service, Glen and Debra lived in Georgia and spent time in Thailand. After his military service, their journey continued through Utah, Colorado, and Washington, where they built their life and raised their family.
Following his military service, Glen worked as a mortgage banker. He was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for and supporting his family.
Glen was devoted to the people he loved. He had a will of iron and could sometimes be described as stubborn, and he was never shy about sharing his opinion. His family always knew exactly where he stood. He had a wonderful and unique sense of humor and was famous for making up his own songs, complete with his own tunes, about absolutely nothing at all. Those spontaneous songs will remain among the memories that bring smiles to his family.
Glen enjoyed the outdoors and working with his hands. He liked to spend his time fishing, boating, riding snowmobiles, working in his garage, tinkering on bikes, creating wood projects, and refurbishing furniture. He absolutely loved garage sales, always enjoying the thrill of finding a great treasure and the satisfaction of haggling over the price. No description of Glen would be complete without mentioning his special affection for watching Westerns on television.
Glen and Debra enjoyed traveling together, especially on vacations where they could spend time with their family. Glen particularly cherished watching his grandchildren play in the pool and enjoyed playing chess with his grandsons.
Glen is survived by his wife, Debra; his children, Melissa and her husband, Ken Harmon; Jason; Jon; Megan and her husband, Tyler Noel; and Meredith and her husband, Adam Hudson; and his sister, Peggy Peterson. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and was blessed with two great-grandchildren.
Glen leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved him dearly. He will be deeply missed, but his laughter, stories, songs, strong opinions, and the many memories he created with those he loved will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
