Gregory Caudill Hannig passed away on November 3, 2025. He was born on January 23, 1961, in St. George, Utah, to Joyce and Verden Hannig. Growing up as the second of four boys gave him plenty of opportunities to get into mischief. When he was in kindergarten, he often missed the bus home because he loved socializing with his friends. Resourceful even at a young age, Greg would hitchhike home until his mom decided they needed to move closer to the school so she wouldn’t have to worry so much about him.

Greg married Debra Roam on March 29, 1980. Together, they raised six daughters and one son. He was a devoted husband and father, teaching his children the importance of working hard and being kind.

A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Greg’s most beloved—if unofficial—calling was serving as a greeter. He had a genuine gift for making people feel welcome. Even toward the end of his life, when he could no longer get out much, his phone stayed busy with calls, texts, and visits from friends and classmates, including many from the Dixie High School Class of 1979.

Greg’s entrepreneurial spirit was evident from an early age. When he wanted a pair of cowboy boots as a boy, his mother told him he’d need to earn part of the money. Greg set up a lemonade stand down the road and made enough to buy his share. Years later, that same drive led him to start Gregco Supply, a business he successfully ran for 38 years.

Twenty-two years ago, Greg was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Through surgery, countless treatments, seizures, and daily headaches, his optimism rarely faltered. He was always up for an adventure and found joy in skiing, fishing, traveling to see his grandchildren, and going to work.

In his later months, Greg discovered the scooters at Sam’s Club—something that brought him new freedom and plenty of laughs, especially when he got a little too caught up in the ride. He also had a legendary sweet tooth that only grew stronger with age, and he became especially fond of bowl after bowl of Cap’n Crunch.

Although Greg’s body grew weaker, his humor never did. He kept his family and friends laughing even in the most difficult moments. His contagious joy for life, his kindness, and his unwavering optimism will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
