Listen to Obituary

On September 29, 2025, the world said goodbye to a man whose presence could light up any room. James Allen Coulson, born in Grand Junction, January 8, 1935, lived a life full of dedication, laughter, and love — a life that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

James built his career with determination and integrity, rising through the ranks at Kennecott Copper Corporation to retire as Afternoon Superintendent. Those who worked alongside him remember a leader who combined fairness with a keen sense of humor, making even the hardest days lighter.

Above all, James was a man of heart. A great father, he always made time for his children and cherished his beloved wife. Arlene, who preceded him in death. He delighted in spending time with family, telling a good joke, and making everyone whose life he touched feel valued.

James is survived by his children: Glen Coulson, Jim Coulson, Kent Coulson (Laurie), and Kristin Maycock (Neal), as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Special thanks are extended to Brian Ashcroft for his unwavering friendship and support of Jim, and to Kristin and Neal for their devoted care of James during his last year.

His legacy is one of love, laughter, and kindness. He will be remembered for his perseverance, his humor, and his ability to make life a little brighter for everyone around him. Though he is gone, his spirit lives on in the stories, memories, and joy he leaves behind.
