James Felden

James Louis Felden “Jim,” age 58, of Des Plaines, IL, died on September 18, 2021, while vacationing in Utah.

Jim was born on October 21, 1962, in Chicago, IL; the son of the late John and Lucille (Lippert) Felden.

Jim worked as a butcher and after 25 years retired in 2016. Many of his friends call him “Butcher" to this day.

Jim was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous throughout his adult life, doing all sorts of volunteer work along with mentoring and being a sponsor to many individuals. After retiring he became a “fitness” king and rode his bike “Blue” 3 miles to the gym, working out 2 hours and then riding back home three miles. He was also a world traveler, never meeting a stranger and making friends. In the past year he has been to Georgia 3 times, Washington, New York, Arizona, and Utah. Jim was a volunteer at a local Catholic Charities food bank passing out food during Covid. Jim had a passion for music and recently purchased a guitar teaching himself to play. He loved watching movies, a passion passed along by his mother. Jim also loved to read books especially gangster and history related. Jim developed a flare for cooking in the past two years. His favorite past time was golfing. On September 2, this year he shot an eighty, his all-time best. As a youth, Jim was an All-Star little league pitcher for Hamlin Park in Chicago. Jim was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan going to several games throughout the season.

Jim is survived by his sister Jeanne (husband Steve) Esterl, brother Johnny (wife Debbie) Felden, sister Joyce (husband Jim) Schober, sister Jacqueline (husband Mark) Dillon, nephews, Matthew, Nicholas, Jonathan, great nephew Anthony, and nieces, Angelina, Tiffany, Jessica, Bryana, and many relatives and friends.

Celebration of life will be held in Des Plaines, date pending. Thanks to all who have given love and support to Jim and his family.
