Logan Utah- James Nason Johnson, 71, passed away Monday January 19th, 2026 in the St George Regional Hospital. He was born August 18th 1954 at the Logan LDS Hospital to Nason Melvin Johnson and Ione Sharp Johnson. He married JoDee Stewart on February 25th 1995 at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jim grew up in Richmond, Utah, and graduated Sky View High School. From an early age he loved the outdoors, and spent his time playing baseball, fishing, and bird hunting. He ran a newspaper route, saving his earnings to buy his first shotgun.
Jim was the father of three sons from a previous marriage. His oldest son, James Brady Johnson, was born on January 13th 1973. Later that same year, on December 1st, his sons Cory and Curtis Johnson were born.
Jim played industrial league softball in his free time, and as his kids were growing up, he coached a little league baseball team that all three of them played on. He took his sons to camping trips, road trips, and amusement parks. He had a markedly good taste in music that shaped his own children's music preferences. Some of the artists they all enjoyed were Hank Williams Jr, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and the Charlie Daniels Band, which he often played on the family road trips.
Jim and JoDee enjoyed spending their time together camping, golfing, and watching sports. Jim was partial to the Dallas Cowboys, and the New York Yankees. He was also a lifelong billiards fan, often playing on a snooker table with close friends, and enjoyed competing in pool leagues over the years.
Jim was a proud active member of the Eagles lodge for over 30 years, and served various leadership positions including past president.
When his grandchildren were growing up, Jim would take them camping, fishing, and swimming. He taught his grandkids how to ride their bicycles, and watched classic television with them. He enjoyed starry nights around the campfire and motorcycle rides with his grandkids.
Throughout his life, Jim was very caring, and showed his affection for his family through the way he provided for them, spent quality time with them, and always made them know they were loved.
