Janalyn Kay Smith died Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the age of 73. She was a resident of the St. George Bella Terra Nursing and Rehab. She received excellent care from the kind, professional staff.
Janalyn was born December 26, 1952, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to her parents, Daniel Nelson Smith Jr. and Florence Joyce (Johnson) Smith. Janalyn never married or had children.
Janalyn was raised in Texas and California. Her parents moved to Orem, Utah, in her sophomore year. She graduated from Orem High School in 1971.
She is preceded in death by both parents; her oldest brother, Daniel Nelson Smith III; sister, Florence Joyce (Smith) Cook; sister Julie Eilene Bott; niece, Heidi J. Gatherum; and nephew, Ryan D. Smith.
She is survived by her brother, David L. Smith, and spouse Colleen Smith, living in Gooding, Idaho; sister Joanne Kathleen Fowler, spouse Cleon Fowler (deceased), living in Bloomington, Utah; Daniel's wife, Kari Smith, living in the Daybreak Community in South Jordan, Utah; brother-in-law, Richard V. Cook, living in Fredonia, Arizona; and brother-in-law, Russell D. Bott, living in Parowan, Utah. Janalyn is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Janalyn had worked as a nurse's aide and housekeeper. She took care of an ailing mother and was a loyal friend!
