John Peter Johnson Jr., age 79, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024. He was born on May 1, 1945 in Palo Alto, California to John Peter Johnson Sr. and Deane (Bulkley) Johnson.
John was a lighthearted, fun-loving man who always had a positive outlook on life. He was a photographer for his profession and a talented artist. In his retirement years he still took photos of all the beauty he saw in the world, and also created beautiful pottery, paintings, murals, metal sculptures and even dabbled in jewelry. Any new artistic idea he thought of or encountered, he would try it, have fun with the process, and produce beautiful works of art. His children loved picking out art they wanted to keep so he wouldn't sell them. He rarely kept things he made for himself. He enjoyed going to art festivals to sell his art, though always for far less than they were worth. He always said he only cared to make enough money to cover supplies to create more art. He just had that creativity that needed an outlet.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Johnson of Saint George Utah, son Jason (Ember) Johnson of St. George Utah, daughter Joanna (Jeff) Hedman of Santa Clara Utah, daughter Amanda Knife of Palm Harbor, Florida, daughter Tara (Joe) Atkin of Washington Utah, sister Jonette Johnson of California. Grandchildren Cavalli Johnson, Halston Johnson, Avery Hedman, Ashley Hedman, Mia Hedman, Aubrey Hedman, Kaitlin McCullough, Elaina McCullough, Kayley McCullough, James Atkin, Isabelle 'Izzy' Frandsen and Samuel Frandsen. John was preceded in death by his wife Deanna (Cox) Johnson, son Jeremy Johnson, brother Robert Johnson, sister Carolyn Johnson, sister Vickie Brinton, sister Barbara Johnson, his parents John and Deane Johnson.
