Karla Rae Kieffer Halford, age 79, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025. Born on January 17, 1946. Karla lived a full and vibrant life dedicated to her family, faith, and community.
As the daughter of a father who was in the military, in her early years she moved around the country including the beautiful island of Hawaii. Eventually her family settled in Bountiful, Utah. For the past two decades, Karla made her home in Southern Utah, where she created lasting friendships and memories.
Karla had a gift for working with her hands and her heart. She worked as a hairdresser, a successful Tupperware manager, and a mortgage loan officer. She had a creative spirit and enjoyed cross-stitching, tole painting, and researching family history — a true testament to her love for family, both past and present.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Karla served faithfully in many callings throughout her life. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith were evident in everything she did.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ernest Charles Halford; her daughters, Brenda Williams and Karrie (Shane) Nielson; her grandchildren: Michael Cook, Jessica (Drew) Mills, Mandalin (Dusty) McLeod, Troy Cook, Katie Cook, Clay Major, KaeLayna Williams, and Annabelle Nielson; her great grandchildren: Avery, Milo, Dusty Jr., Gracie, Addeline, Madison, and August. Her brother, Max (Elaine) Kieffer.
She was preceded in death by her four-year-old son, Shawn Michael Halford; her parents, Alvin and Maxine Kieffer; and her brothers, Alvin H. (Lois) Kieffer and Kenneth (Mary Lue) Kieffer
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to CNS Hospice for the tender and compassionate care given to Karla.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 25th, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 155 East 1050 North, Hurricane, Utah.
Karla will be remembered for many things — her unwavering love, her generous heart, and the way she lit up every room she entered. She had deep faith, a fierce love for her family, and creativity that showed up in everything she did. But of course, there are a few classic Karla moments we can’t leave out — like the surprisingly long list of animals she accidentally ran over (we truly lost count), her favorite joke she told everyone (if you know, you know),and her gift for oversharing even if you asked her not to— and making us laugh every time she did. Karla lived out loud, loved deeply, and left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know her. She will be missed dearly.
