Our beloved father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather Lewis Jack Bird passed away July 1, 2026 in Hurricane Utah.

Jack was born January 22, 1939 in Bluebell Utah to Clarence and Lydia Bird. Jack was the youngest of thirteen children. He was raised in Bluebell & Roosevelt Utah until the age of seventeen, when he joined the Navy. He was stationed in Oregon. While in Oregon, he met the love of his life, Joan Marie Bergin.

Jack married Joan Marie Bergin August 14, 1959 in Warrenton Oregon. Their marriage was later solemnized in the SLC Temple on December 8, 1965.

After moving to Utah, Jack went to Barber School working in Grantsville Utah. Later, he decided to go into Law Enforcement. Jack started that career in Tooele Utah for two years, and then he was the Chief of Police in Grantsville Utah. He worked in Law Enforcement for twenty-five years. Retiring in Duchesne County.

Jack and Joan traveled and went on an LDS mission to Chinle Arizona. They settled in Hurricane Utah afterwards.

Jack served as Bishop and was on the High Council for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved serving others. His greatest love was Joan, his children and his grandchildren.

Jack loved the outdoors and especially elk hunting. He loved yardwork and his fruit trees.

Jack was preceded in death by the love of his life and eternal companion Joan Marie Bergin. Also his parents and twelve siblings.

Jack is survived by his four children. Jackie Bird Anderson (Brett), Jerry Michael Bird (Karlee), Jeffery Lewis Bird (Sophia), and James Loren Bird (Tara). Thirty-five grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Also, his two sidekicks Choco and Chewy.

Jack was a Gentle giant and our hero

Funeral will be August 1st, At the LDS chapel located at 155 East 1050 North Hurricane, Ut.

There will be no viewing, only a service at 11:00 am.

We will go to the cemetery and hold a small service with military honors.

Those who want to can then go back to the church and have a luncheon.
