Linda Degn Fowers

December 10, 1942 — May 6, 2025

Washington, UT

St. George, Utah – Linda Anne Degn Fowers, 82, returned home peacefully on May 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in 1942 in Logan, Utah, to Wilford “Bennie” and Iris Swapp Degn, Linda’s life was full of grace, warmth, and devotion. She married her sweetheart, Dwight Wilford Fowers, in the Logan Temple in 1963, and together they built a life centered on love and faith.

Raised in Logan and Ogden, Linda’s early years were filled with joy and discovery which shaped her curious spirit. She had a zest for life that shone through in her love for dance—serving as a cheerleader and a member of the BYU Folk Dancers. She graduated from Ogden High School and earned her degree from the University of Utah in Elementary Education, enjoying a year each at Weber State, Utah State, and BYU along the way. Linda also found happiness in the water, working as a lifeguard in her youth and continuing to swim throughout her life, her backyard pool a favorite retreat of peace and renewal.

Education was a calling Linda answered wholeheartedly. She taught and tutored for many years, with a special gift for helping others understand math. As a principal of a private school, she influenced many young lives. However her greatest teaching was done at home. She read to her children often, filling their world with stories and building a cherished children’s library filled with timeless treasures. Her love of learning, reading, and beauty shaped the hearts and minds of her family. She also tended her garden with the same gentle care, always finding delight in her flowers and plants.

Motherhood was Linda’s greatest joy and sacred stewardship. She cherished her role with all her heart, raising her children with tenderness, purpose, and unwavering faith. She believed her children were gifts from God and sought to raise them in the light of the gospel. Daily scripture study and prayer were the heartbeat of her home, where love, peace, and testimony flourished. As expressed in Alma 56:48, “We do not doubt our mother knew it.”

Her nurturing spirit was evident in every aspect of family life—whether planning joyful birthday parties, creating meaningful family nights, teaching her children to cook and serve, or cheering them on in every recital, game, and event. She taught them to be responsible, loving, and strong—and always to rely on the Lord. Linda’s quiet example of gospel living continues to bless her family today and will for generations to come.

Linda also treasured her friendships—some lasting decades and filled with cherished memories from Lake Powell to quiet afternoons visiting in her home. She had a way of making everyone feel seen and heard. Her listening heart offered comfort in both small conversations and deep confidence. With her gentle empathy and steady strength, she lifted others in their hardest moments, offering wisdom, compassion, and the feeling that they were never alone.

A devoted disciple, Linda found daily strength in the scriptures and was a devoted student of the scriptures and the Come, Follow Me program. She studied with purpose and shared her insights with humility and conviction. She also found joy in family history, feeling a sacred connection to her ancestors as she worked to preserve their names and complete their temple ordinances. Her testimony of eternal families was a guiding light in her life.

Linda is lovingly survived by her six children: David (Kristen) Fowers, Dianne (Scott) Brown, Suzanne (Matt) Brenchley, Michelle (Jake) Bingham, Michael Fowers, and Marianne (Brett) Iverson; along with 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, with three more on the way. She now rejoins her devoted husband, Dwight; her parents, Bennie and Iris; and her siblings, Ralph Degn and Louise Degn, in a joyful reunion.
