Linda Ann Stephens Udy, age 83, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Linda was born on May 4, 1943, in Gooding, Idaho, to Herbert Raymond Stephens and Rhoda Elizabeth Behunin Stephens. She married the love of her life, Earl Brent Udy, on July 20, 1961, in the Idaho Falls Temple.
From a young age, Linda demonstrated remarkable talent, responsibility, and determination. An accomplished pianist and organist, she was playing piano in a band of adult musicians by the age of twelve. She also helped operate her parents' store in Gooding, managing the cash register at age eight and carrying the day's deposits to the bank each morning.
When Linda was in the ninth grade, her family moved to Malta, Idaho, where she met Brent Udy, her lifelong sweetheart, companion, and best friend. In high school, she excelled academically and participated in the school band, laying the foundation for a lifetime of learning, service, and music.
Linda had a unique gift for seeing potential in others and helping them discover it within themselves. Throughout her life, she used her talents, encouragement, and leadership to create opportunities for growth and service for those around her.
A lifelong learner, Linda continued her education throughout adulthood. She completed independent studies in literature and music, trained and worked as a travel agent in Burley, Idaho, and eventually earned a bachelor's degree in Anthropology while working in the library system at Brigham Young University.
Linda's life was defined by faith and service. As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she faithfully served in numerous callings, including Relief Society President, twice. She served as ward organist in virtually every congregation where she lived and generously shared her musical talents with countless individuals and families. She also directed and organized Road Shows, bringing together her creativity, leadership, and love of music to bless her community.
Music remained one of Linda's greatest passions throughout her life. She was featured as an organist in concerts at the St. George Tabernacle and spent several years organizing and directing musical programs there. She found great joy in creating meaningful musical experiences that uplifted and inspired others.
Together, Brent and Linda served multiple missions for their church, including assignments in Alberta, Canada; Nebraska; California; Idaho; and St. George, Utah. Their years of missionary service reflected their deep devotion to the gospel and their desire to serve wherever they were needed.
Brent and Linda also managed retirement communities in Nevada, California, and Arizona, where they developed many lasting friendships and touched the lives of those they served.
Above all, Linda cherished her family. Her love, faith, wisdom, and example have left an enduring legacy that will continue to bless generations to come.
Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Brent Udy; her five children, Tauna (Jeff) Buckway, Clain (Jennifer) Udy, Rick (Chantra) Udy, Nicole (Eric) Richins, and Becky (Mike) Paice; 24 grandchildren and their spouses; and 46 great-grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
