Lowell C. Blake

Lowell C. Blake passed away on July 16 th , 2016 in St. George, Utah from

natural causes. Lowell was born on August 24 th , 1935 in St. George to Maurine

Chadburn Blake and Arthur “Tuff” Blake. He married the love of his life Rosie Maire

Hughes on February 18 th , 1956. They were blessed with one son Shawn Arthur

Blake, who passed away at the age of 2 months. He still mourned his death at the

time of his passing. On the advise of their doctor Rosie got pregnant right away.

Tamera Jo (Tammy) was born 1 year later. Tammy was loved and she carried a big

burden of replacing the baby they lost. 30 years later they met a man that they call

their son Paul (Bubba or Red) Hunt.

Lowell went to school in St. George Utah, though he didn’t graduate from High

School, he did from the school of hard knocks. He was a member of the Church of

Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Maybe he didn’t go to church often, but he had a

great love of his country, his family and his friends. Sometimes his mouth got him in

trouble and he was “always” sorry after.

Lowell loved anything that was outside, camping, hunting, fishing, hunting arrow

heads, or just sitting outside counting the cars coming and going on the Veyo Hill.

Lowell suffered anxiety attacks and the only way he could calm down was to go for a

ride. He and Tammy or Rosie would like to go looking for deer or elk or pick up pine

nuts. The thing he loved the most was to cut wood. Lowell loved his animals, dogs

and cats, and treated them like family. His sister, Merriley often said, “In the next

life he was coming back as a dog or cat because he treated them better than me.

However, he was always so proud of everything I did.”

Lowell has lived his entire life in St. George or Veyo, Utah. He lived in Bakersfield,

California for 6 month, which he hated. He had many jobs as a truck driver, cement

driver, cement finisher and working in the gravel pit. He was best known for

leaning on the shovel or riding in the truck. He loved the people he worked for.

He is survived by his wife of 63 ½ years Rosie Maire Blake ,Veyo, UT; daughter,

Tammy Blake (Sammy Garcia), Scenic, AZ; Paul Hunt, Inglewood, CO; sister

Merriley (Elvin JR) Hafen, Santa Clara, UT; brother Douglas (Lissa) Blake Glenwood,

UT; sister-in- law Colleen (Erwin) Waite, Bakersfield, CA and many nieces and

Lowell is preceded in death by his mother and father, Maurine & Tuff Blake; his son,

Shawn; his brother Gerrald; and his mother and father-in- law Elmer and Emily

The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses and the staff at Bella

Terra that took such great care of him. At this time there will not be any services.
