Markham Frederick Miller

September 7, 1953 — December 12, 2017

Markham Frederick Miller

Markham Frederick Miller, our beloved father, brother, grandfather and friend returned to his heavenly home on December 12, 2017 in Cedar City, Utah.

Markham was the third of three children born to Rita Skousen Miller and Woodrow Alma Miller.  Markham was born in Colton, California on September 7, 1953, to a family with loving parents and two sweet sisters.  After serving an LDS mission in Argentina, he was married to Shirley Gay Andersen on December 18, 1976 in the Provo, Utah Temple.  Markham graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo and later obtained a law degree from Whittier College in southern California.

Over the years Markham’s thoughts and daily prayers were consistently about his family and friends, who he cared for deeply.  Markham suffered from debilitating health problems for much of his adult life that kept him quite isolated, and he frequently wished he could be with his loved ones more often to serve them and play a larger role in their daily lives.  He was a man of tremendous faith and assured his loved ones that they would have those opportunities together one day, even if it had to be in the next life.

Markham loved his sweet wife Shirley, and they cherished spending time together studying the scriptures and teaching their children the gospel of Christ.  They especially enjoyed daily family prayer and the spirit of love it would bring to the home.  Markham and Shirley had a caring and loyal relationship throughout their lives, and Shirley cared for Markham tirelessly until she passed away on November 9, 2015.

Markham is survived by his two sisters Marilyn (Mimi) Murdock and Melanie Mulligan; children Adam (Michelle), Benson (Samantha), Caleb (Melinda), Jacob (Ashley), Celeste (Bryan) Excell, and Jenna; and fourteen grandchildren.
