Martha Simkins Veater

Martha Veater passed away on May 1, 2023 at Red Cliffs Health and Rehabilitation in St. George, Utah.

Martha was born in Circleville, Utah on October 2, 1928, the youngest of 12 children to Rosten Lundblad Simkins and Mary Mandana Dalley.  Her siblings include Welba, Alene, Nellie, Alta, Welden, Mary, Ella, Allen, Howard, Charlotte and Douglas.

She married Clark R. Veater the love of her life on January 8, 1947, in Flagstaff, Arizona.  They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.  Clark and Martha had two wonderful sons Clark Martin and Stephen LaMont.  

Martha will always be remembered for her amazing musical talent.  She was a wonderful pianist.  At a young age she was able to play music by ear.  In her youth she played in her uncles’ band at many dances and events.  She was a ward organist for years, trained many organists and played for many choirs, funerals and special events.  

She is survived by her son Stephen, her daughter-in-law Shari, grandchildren Joshua (Lisa), Todd (Briana), Carly (Anthony), Rosten (Holly), Jillian (Mike), Penny (Justin) and 14 great grandchildren.

Martha was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, her husband and son, Martin.

Per Martha’s wishes, there will be a family graveside service at the Washington City Cemetery on Tuesday, May 9th at 2:00 pm.  She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
