Washington City, Utah – Matthew George Anastacio, 32, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026. He was born on November 22, 1993, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Shannon and Antonio Anastacio.
Matthew spent his early childhood years in Southern California and his teenage years in North Idaho. For the past eight years, he made Southern Utah his home.
Matthew was a talented tattoo artist who had a deep love for art and creativity. During the last year and a half of his life, he dedicated himself to recovery and helping others along the way. He loved riding his Harley, and in his spare time, you could often find him out riding dirt bikes with his buddies—those were the days he lived for.
He also enjoyed playing sober softball and spent countless hours on the field with friends and teammates. One of Matthew’s proudest recent accomplishments was becoming a wildland firefighter. He was excited to begin this new chapter in his life and proud of himself for persevering, never taking “no” for an answer, and fighting for what he wanted.
Matthew touched many lives in countless ways and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his parents, Antonio and Shannon Anastacio of Washington City, Utah; and his brother, Michael Anastacio of Seattle, Washington. Matthew has a large family of aunties, uncles, cousins and friends he leaves behind.
He was preceded in death by his Grandma Sandy, Abuela Alejandrina, Tia Ninfa, and his cousin, Cameron Schopp.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Hughes Mortuary, 1037 E. 700 S., St. George, Utah 84790. For more information, please call (435) 674-5000.
