Matthew Krishnan Moten

June 11, 2001 — July 1, 2024

Boise, ID

Matthew Moten was born June 11, 2001 in Kerala, India. He was adopted by Sandy and Krishnan Moten in 2002 and brought to Idaho to join his big brother Joshua. Matthew went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus on July 1st, 2024.

Matthew grew up in Boise, Idaho, active and always on the go, jumping on the trampoline or riding his scooter. He loved to dress up in his favorite movie characters, wielding a sword or Thor’s hammer. His favorite music group was the Wiggles! He later discovered several of his friends had also attended the Wiggles concert in Boise. Matthew grew to have a passion for sports and recreation, especially enjoying sports stats.

Matthew attended Cole Valley Christian School from 6th to 12th grade and was involved in various sports as he grew up, and eventually played varsity baseball in High School. He was blessed with amazing friends and teachers, who went over and beyond entering into his life and impacting him for Jesus. At his high school graduation party, one of his teachers stated Matt was a unifier.

Matthew pursued a degree in Sports Management at Dixie State, now known as Utah Tech, graduating summer of 2024.

Matthew was involved with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship on campus. He spent 2 summers in Bosnia serving with Intervarsity, and recently participated in a short term mission to Mexico with his local church. His heart for students and desire to share the gospel were his passion. This involvement prepared him for God’s call to be on staff with Intervarsity. Words cannot express the love he had for his family and friends across the world, and his Lord and Savior Jesus.

Matthew is survived by his parents Sandy and Krishnan, brother Joshua (Sami), and Samuel. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Darlas Lehmann, grandmother Patti Chinama, aunt Devi, uncle Clayton Lehmann, and cousin Peter Beihoffer.

Matthew’s Celebration of Life will be July 4, 2024 at Calvary Chapel in St. George, Utah. In lieu of flowers or gifts please consider donating to Utah Tech Intervarsity Christian Fellowship at:
