Michael Wayne Jackson, 83, was born in Prescott, Arizona, to Bonnie Pearl Batt and Fred William Jackson. His dear sister, Donna Lynn Jackson Gertsch, left him far too soon. The three of them, along with many beloved aunties and cousins, and his niece Cindy Olinghouse, welcomed him home on September 9th, 2026, when he passed away peacefully.

“Wayne" spent his childhood in Salt Lake City surrounded by cousins. He attended South High School, where he excelled as an athlete, and was proud to count many fellow Cubs as lifelong friends.

Mike met his sweetheart, Christine Beck Jackson, at a dance hall in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. She initially declined to dance with him. He was determined, and sometime later she relented. This was fortunate for his three children: James, Tiffany, and Samual; his six grandchildren: Jessica, Jodi, Lauren, Grady, Taylor, and Brooklyn: and his two great grandchildren, Jaxon and Jason, who all survive him. He is also survived by Olivia and Gregg, Shauna, Temel, his nieces Hale and Melissa, and his nephew Jason Parker.

Mike and Chris were sealed in the Manti Temple, becoming faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a proud member of Parley’s 2nd and 4th Wards.

Mike had humble beginnings, but relied on hard work. He built a respected career at Riter Engineering and was a wonderful provider, giving his family the advantages that he didn’t enjoy. He passed on his love for sports by coaching basketball, football, and track. He taught everyone to fish and hunt, two of his passions.

The cabin, Finally, was his sanctuary. He loved his many neighbors, visitors, and fishing companions.

Mike retired to St. George, where he continued to be surrounded by close friends and loving neighbors. He was especially grateful to Karey, an angel in the guise of a hospice nurse. He entered the sunset of his life with family who loved him, and he was courageous to the end.
