Neil Terry Nyborg, 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Cedar City, UT on May 22, 2026, following a valiant battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born August 16, 1941, in St. Anthony, Idaho to Josephine Ruth Balmforth and Alan James Nyborg. Early in his childhood his parents divorced and his mother married William Benjamin Cooke who loved and raised him as his own son. Neil married Laura Black in September 1963. Later, he married Nancy Cooke. He had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and he lived his religion.

Neil was raised in Short Creek, Arizona alongside many siblings, with whom he shared a strong, loving family bond. He was a quiet, caring and mild natured man that had an unwavering love for his family. He enjoyed gardening, even hoeing weeds. He was a farmer at heart and had a barnyard full of animals and a bounteous garden that provided for his family. He was the maintenance man for the Colorado City public school for 26 years where he touched the lives of many young people.

His family was his pride and joy, and there wasn’t anywhere he would rather be than with his children. He ate three meals a day with them throughout their growing up years and then, after retiring, he worked alongside his sons in logging, woodworking, and cabinetry. He loved to see each of his children achieve life’s milestones and their successes brought him happiness.

He is survived by his wives Laura and Nancy and all of his children- Norman (Marily Dianna), Alfred (Rulea), Charles, Josephine, Virgel (Terilyn), Jennifer (Cortney), Brigham (Ricki), Ephraim (Moni), Olea (Brandon B), Hilda (Lorin), Laura (James), Joseph, Marjorie (Brandon T), Janetta (Tyler), Neil, Kyle (Amber), Lanore (Edson), Tilly (Anthony), Deidre (Kentucky), Kody (Nikae), Lamoni and Levi. He is survived by 85 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Dwight Nyborg, Phillip, Charles and Roland Cooke and by his sisters Dorothy, Laura, Hannah, Jeannie, Thelma, Myrna and Janice.
