Phyllis M. Koivu

November 17, 1934 — January 6, 2024

St. George

Phyllis Maurice Koivu (Goullette) passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024. Phyllis was born on November 17, 1934 in Buffalo, New York. She grew up there and met and married E. Richard Moss. They had two sons together. Leaving her native New York, she moved to Torrance, California. Phyllis and Richard were divorced and she later met and married Henry Koivu.  Phyllis worked for Hughes aircraft for many years. She also worked as a bookkeeper but the true love of her life was animals, especially dogs and cats. She was a much appreciated volunteer with the ASPCA, the Humane Society and various animal shelters, even being honored as volunteer of the year more than once. She loved playing bingo, garage sales and her red hat society. She was a breast cancer survivor and loved supporting that cause. She loved to travel and was always on the go. She suffered a stroke in 2018 which required her to move into assisted living in St. George, Utah where she could be near family. She was living there at the time of her passing.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Henry, her sons David Moss (Chandra), Daniel Moss (Julie), Vicki Kracht (Frank) and Christi Koivu (John). She has ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
