Reid Scott Sorenson, 76 years old, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023. He was born on January 27th, 1946, in St George, Utah, to Reid and Amy Nielson Sorenson. Reid Sorenson married Norita Carol Thompson on December 15th, 1970, in Seattle, Washington. They resided in Seattle Washington area until 2002, when they relocated to Enterprise Utah! He loved this town!

Reid grew up in St George Utah and the Arizona Strip for about the first 7 years of his life, when his father was ranching on the Arizona Strip. After his dad became a miner they moved to Caliente, Caselton, and Pioche Nevada and then to Moab Utah. Reid loved hiking around the hills in Moab and learned to swim at the Apache Hotel, where we held a Family Reunion a few years ago.

Reid’s parents divorced when he was 12, and his family moved to Sacramento, California. In Sacramento, Reid started working on bicycles, motorcycles and cars as he got older. He and his friends would buy old cars and learn to fix them, then cruise up and down Main Street, thinking they were very cool! And they were!!

He served on the USS HOEL, DDG-13, as a Boilermaker, BT 2, learning a Trade that he was able to work anywhere that he wanted to live, and he chose Seattle Washington. He was employed at Todd Shipyard, as a Test And Trial Engineer, then at the City of Seattle, Seattle Center, the site of the 1962 Worlds Fair running Power Plants and Air Conditioning. He also worked at Rainier Brewery, running their heating and Cooling systems.

Reid was a Jack of All Trades, he self-taught himself how to do almost anything that needed to be done. He learned how to build houses by The Law of Just Doing it! Sometimes he had to learn the hard way! He had a Masters Degree in Practicality, believed in Living within your means, believed in treating others the way you would want to be treated.

Reid Loved riding his 1978 BMW Motorcycle and would frequently ride to Panaca Nevada to swim in the Springs!! He and Jim Goad used to ride together and get into trouble!!

Reid had been diagnosed with Mesothelioma, Asbestos related cancer of the lung in November, 2022.
