Richard Dale Jones

Richard Dale Jones, age 77, passed away November 20, 2025 He was born February 2, 1948 to John Dale Jones and Geraldine Eva Evans. Rick grew up in Pocatello, Idaho and quickly created a passion for sports, but excelled the most in football which got him a lot of attention while attending Highland High School in Pocatello, Idaho. So much attention actually he received many scholarship offers but decided to attend Brigham Young University (BYU) to play Quarterback from 1967-1970 While attending BYU he met and married Rebecca Gilgen and they started their family with the quick addition of a baby girl(Kimberly) and then 8 years later were able to adopt a boy (Michael). Rick graduated from BYU with his bachelors and taught and coached High School in Arizona and Oklahoma for 15 years. Rick and family lived for a majority of their life in Lawton, Oklahoma where He and Becky owned and operated a Newspaper. In 1995 he decided to get back to Utah and sold the business and moved to St George where he built and sold homes until he retired in 2010. Rick and Becky went their separate ways after 32 years of marriage. Rick later met and married Laura Baker of West Jordan, Utah in 2013. Rick and Laura loved going on many adventures, playing Golf in Sun River with his Golf Buddies, going on bike rides and playing/winning card games with all their Sun River friends. They were also blessed to be able to serve a full time Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the Heber Valley Girls Camp (2017-2018).

Rick is survived by his Wife Laura Baker of St George, Daughter Kimberly Young (Drew) of South Jordan Utah and Son Michael D. Jones (Mindy) of Salt Lake City. His Grandchildren are Sam, McKelle, Ben and Zoie Berezay, Drake, Tanner, and Deacon Jones. Graydon, Hunter, Dillon, Ava, and Jude Lambert. Derek Josh, Katie and Jenna Holt. And 10 great grandchildren. Rick was met in heaven by his daughter Laurie Jill Holt (Jason) with a great big smile and big ol’ bear hug. He loved his grandchildren immensely and loved hearing and watching them do all they are involved with.

A memorial service will be held December 6th 2025 at 11 am at the Sun River Angel Arch LDS Chapel. 1483 West Angel Arch Drive St. George, Utah 84790.
