Robert Dix Birch was born February 1, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri to William Joseph Birch and Mary Gweneth Montgomery, both deceased. He is survived by his beloved wife -- who knows no limits on service -- his six sons, Joshua David Birch, Jamie Dix Birch, Chris Reed Birch, Robbie Benjamin Birch, Timothy Daniel Birch, and Jeffrey Kristian Beck. He is also survived by his sister and her husband, Terry Welch, who was always supportive. He had several aunts and uncles all who are deceased except for Bonnie Montgomery. He has 12 grandchildren and one great grandson. He also has several cousins; Kathy, Carol, and Debbie Stevens, Gordon Montgomery, and Terressa Mayfield.
He loved music and could play all the brass instruments, one in particular, the trumpet. He joined the One Hundred and First Airborne Division and played in the band. He got out early to go to BYU. He did not quite finish his three year enlistment. He graduated from Kansas University Osteopathic Program, specializing in Family Medicine. Later in his career he was trained in Psychiatry at the University of Utah.
Highlights of his life were being sealed to his eternal companion. Other highlights included running and jogging in the mountains with his wife. He enjoyed feeding the rabbits and ground squirrels at Tonaquint Park. When he could no longer do that because of his medical condition, he enjoyed studying Spanish and obtained a rudimentary love of the language.
He defeated two types of cancer, non-hodgkin's, all cell, and malignant myeloma but was not able to defeat the last malignant melanoma. He fell victim to the flu.
He loved the Savior, his family and his patients. He loved messages from two prophets; Gordon B. Hinkley - "Look Up", and "Think Celestial" by Russell M. Nelson.
