Born on September 21, 1977 in LBJ Hospital, Fagaalu American Samoa, Valya Lucy Sega Tenney lived a life of faith, compassion, and service. From a young age, she found her place within the church and school, dedicating her time, talents, and love to serving God and her community. Her church family was her joy, and she gave selflessly—whether through song, teaching, volunteering, or simply offering a kind word to those in need.
Her life was a testament to humility, service, and unwavering faith. Though her time with us was far too short, her impact will live on in the countless lives she touched.
Valya Tenney is survived by her husband Fiso Tenney, daughters Willanola and Noelle Tenney, her 2nd parents Grandpa Eugene and Grandma Tuputausi Reid, sisters Ola Eletise, Masina Fetalaiga, Asoiva Safua, Lydia Umi, Jenn Vaisigano, Xena Mua'e and brother Brian Sega, Kuresa Sega, Mark Sega, Mj Sega and Azra Sega. She was preceded in death by her mother Faatafai Koleta Sega and father Kuresa Mamoe Sega all in 2025. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family, her church, and all who knew her.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at LDS 3519 Manzanita Rd, St. George UT 84770. Family Service will start at 9:00 AM, followed by the Bishop's service. The family invites all who loved Valya Tenney to join us in remembering her and to continue the fellowship at the reception following the service. She will be buried at the Tonaquint Cemetery, very close to her parents.
Though we grieve deeply, we take comfort in knowing she rests in the eternal arms of the Lord she served so faithfully.
