Vird J. Heath passed away August 6, 2021 surrounded by his family.

Vird was born September 27, 1925 in Torrey, Utah to Ralph and Cora Mae Durfee Heath. He spent his early years shearing sheep in the mountains of Wyoming with his brothers. He would go fishing and hunting after work to supply his family with meat.

Vird married Jean Nelson on January 22, 1949 in Hurricane, Utah. They were later sealed in the St George Temple. Jean and Vird are the parents of Theron, Sharon Kay, Stephen and Richard.

Vird was in the Army National Guard for 3 years. He spent time in the Korean conflict. He loved his country and was proud to be in the military.

Vird retired from J & J Mill and Lumber after many years of dedicated service. Any free time he had was spent hunting, fishing and enjoying time in the mountains. He taught his children, grandchildren, many nieces and nephews to fish. Family reunions were important to him. He loved to visit with family.

Vird was preceded in death by his wife Jean, his parents Ralph and Cora Mae and his 10 siblings, Daughter Sharon Kay Peterson, Son Stephen, Son Theron and great granddaughter Jazmine Oliphant. He is survived by his son Richard (Kenda) of Mesquite, Nevada, daughter in law Florence Heath of St George, Utah, 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Vird will be buried in the St George City Cemetery next to his wife Jean. There will be a memorial service held in his honor on September 25, 2021.  A graveside with military rites will be held at 10:00 AM proceeded by the memorial at 10:30 at the Brio LDS Ward chapel.
