Wanda Edwards Wright

Wanda Edwards Wright, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully at her home in St. George, Utah, on January 12, 2021, at the age of 93.  She was born September 25, 1927 in Charleston, Utah to Oliver Edwards and Hazel Faye Hoover Edwards.

Wanda was raised on her parent’s small farm as an only child until her sister, Joyce, came along when Wanda was 17 years old.

Wanda attended grade school in Charleston where she said everyone was your friend.  She attended Wasatch High School and was elected sophomore class president.  That is where she met her future husband, Verne Wright.

After high school, Wanda moved to Salt Lake where she was employed by the telephone company.  When WWII ended Verne returned home from the South Pacific and they were married February 7, 1947 in the Salt Lake City Temple.  They made their home in Heber where they raised 5 children, 4 boys and 1 girl.

Wanda enjoyed gardening and took great pride in making her home and yard a showplace with beautiful flowers and shrubs.  She also loved sewing and was an excellent seamstress.

Wanda was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served in many callings including Primary President, Relief Society Counselor and Cub Scout leader.  She had a strong testimony of the Gospel and set a wonderful example for her family.

Wanda is survived by her children Mark Wright, Kent Wright (Kate), Paul Wright, Julie May and Robert Wright, 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren.

A graveside service for the immediate family will be held Thursday, January 21 at 1:00 pm, at the Heber City Cemetery, 680 North 550 East.

The Wright family would like to thank Rachael Patten for the loving care she gave Wanda.  In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the St. George Animal Shelter. (Mom loved her cats!)
