Weldon Leroy Spriggs

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Weldon LeRoy “Roy” Spriggs, 78, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on November 3, 2018 in St. George, Utah. Roy was born to Elwood Leroy and Edna Smith Spriggs on June 5, 1940 in Coalville, Utah.

He spent his early childhood and growing up years in Coalville, Utah. He was a graduate of North Summit High School. He attended Utah State University for one year, then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand. Following his mission he attended Weber State University where he met the love of his life, Carol Ann Pace. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 7, 1963, and spent 55 wonderful years together. Those years were filled with much love, happiness and adventure as they raised their family of 4 children, enjoyed their 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren with 2 more great-grandchildren on the way.

Roy was happiest when he could gather his family around him at their cabin on Kolob Mountain. He loved to ride his 4 wheeler and to sit out on the deck (which took many summers to construct) reading a book. The family is so grateful for the constant and loving care Carol gave Roy during the past two years of his life as he suffered the ravages of Alzheimer disease. She was his constant care giver, rarely leaving his side, always willing to do anything within her power to make him happy and comfortable. Thank you, Mom. We love and appreciate you and your example of Christlike love and compassion.

Roy began his career in the title and abstract business with Utah Title. In 1986 he moved his family to St. George and started his own title business, Terra Title, which he ran for many years. Roy loved to travel and enjoyed visiting many places. Some of his favorites were New Zealand, Africa, Hawaii, Alaska and the East Coast but was always so happy when he returned home. He loved to tease his children and grand-children and truly loved to be surrounded by family. Roy was a kind and generous man who touched many lives. He is deeply missed. We love you dad and grandpa.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his children Bret (Becky) Spriggs of Salt Lake City, Shawn (Lori) Spriggs of Bountiful, Todd (Julie) Spriggs of Washington, and Danielle (Dave) Harrison of St. George; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; his two sisters, Vernett (Gary) Jones and Janet Gill, many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Richard Wintch and Ray Munson of Horizon Hospice for the love and expert care they provided for Roy and his family.
